When comparing common electromagnetic sealing gaskets, we can consider from multiple dimensions.
1.Wire Mesh Gasket: It’s a kind of electromagnetic sealing gaskets. This is the most commonly used electromagnetic sealing material. In terms of structure, there are three types: full metal wire, hollow and rubber core.
Commonly used wire materials are: Monel alloy, beryllium copper, tinned steel wire, etc. Its shielding performance is: the shielding effectiveness is higher at low frequencies, and the shielding effectiveness is lower at high frequencies. Generally used in occasions below 1GHz.
Main advantages/disadvantages: low price, not easy to damage when excessive compression / low shielding effectiveness at high frequencies.
2.Conductive rubber: usually used in occasions with environmental sealing requirements. In terms of structure, there are two types of plates and strips, and the strips are divided into two types: hollow and solid. Sheets come in different thicknesses. The material is: silicone rubber mixed with copper powder, aluminum powder, silver powder, silver-plated copper powder, silver-plated aluminum powder, silver-plated glass powder, etc. Its shielding performance is: the shielding effectiveness is low at low frequencies, and the shielding effectiveness is high at high frequencies.
Main pros/cons: Provides both electromagnetic and environmental sealing. It is hard and the price is high. Due to the soft surface, sometimes it cannot penetrate the oxide layer on the metal surface, resulting in low shielding effectiveness.
3.Finger reed: usually used in the occasion of sliding contact of the contact surface. There are many properties, the material is beryllium copper, but the surface can be coated in different ways. The shielding performance is high at both high frequency and low frequency.
Main advantages/disadvantages: large amount of deformation, high shielding effectiveness, allows sliding contact (which facilitates disassembly) / high price.
4.Spiral tube gasket: spiral tube rolled from beryllium copper or stainless steel, with high shielding efficiency (the highest shielding efficiency of all electromagnetic sealing gaskets).
Main advantages/disadvantages: low price, high shielding effectiveness/easy to damage when subjected to excessive compression.
5.Conductive cloth liner: It is composed of conductive cloth wrapped with a foam rubber core, generally rectangular, with adhesive backing, very easy to install. The shielding effectiveness is higher at high and low frequencies.
Main advantages/disadvantages: low price, not easy to damage when excessive compression, soft, has a certain environmental sealing effect/frequent friction will damage the conductive surface layer.
