Helical Spring Overview

Handa Helical Spring is also known as: Wound Spring, Ribbon Spring, Helical Wound Springs.

Helical Spring Seals are well-suited for static, low-speed, and cryogenic applications, offering positive sealing over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. They are particularly beneficial for applications requiring high unit loads and even load distribution across each individual band.

Helical spring plans create generously higher burden per inch redirection values when contrasted with the cantilever “U” & “V”– molded springs. Because of the outline way of the seal coat geometry these sorts of plans are fundamentally utilized for static and/or lower element seal applications.

Helical Spring Dimensional Data chart below provides the dimensional data for our standard offering. However custom diameters, widths and thickness can also be supplied. There is no tooling charge for special diameters or different material slit widths.

Handa produces cut and welded springs for all standard industrial and metric dash sizes for Helical series spring energizers, including V-spring, Helical, and Canted coil springs. Simply provide the dash number you need and we’ll cut and weld the spring to the necessary dimensions.

Even if the product you need doesn’t fall into the standard dash number range, we still have you covered. Provide the centerline of the spring groove in the seal and we will cut and weld a spring energizer to exactly match the dimensions. Helical Springs Applications

Helical wound springs are primarily used for static and/or low dynamic seal applications due to their ability to generate significantly higher load per inch deflection compared to cantilever “U” & “V”-shaped springs. They are ideal for sealing gases, mating rough surfaces, and cryogenic applications where the spring load needs to overcome the significant increase in material modulus at low temperatures
